PE and Sport Premium

Our Vision

“Motivating and Inspiring Confident Movers”

Sports Premium PE and sport play a very important part in the life of Moor Allerton Hall Primary School and at least two hours per week, are dedicated to physical activity in the curriculum. We believe that physical education and sport contribute to the holistic development of young people. Through participation in sport and physical education, young people learn more about key values such as teamwork, fair play and respect for themselves and others. There is significant evidence to show the positive effects of sport and exercise on children’s physical health, growth and development. Furthermore, sport also provides a healthy environment for young people to learn how to deal with competition and how to cope with both winning and losing. In April 2013, the Government announced new funding (Sport Premium) for physical education (PE), sport and physical activity to improve the quality and breadth of PE and sport provision. This funding is now planned to continue till 2020. We are using the Sport Premium to improve the quality of PE, sport and physical activity in our school in the following ways:

Aims for Sports Premium:

  1. Buy into Active Schools to develop city wide initiatives in Leeds
  2. All teachers to have access to high quality CPD for increased skills, knowledge, understanding and confidence in all areas of PE.
  3. A new scheme of work for PE will be delivered to each year group, focussing on high quality PE and School Sport.
  4. New and exciting resources will be bought in to support the new curriculum and scheme of work being delivered.
  5. To increase the number of after-school sports clubs being run and develop those which are already in place.
  6. Children/staff will be inspired by professional coaches.
  7. To increase participation of intra-school competitions (with other schools)
